Linkin Park Takes to the Streets to Promote SSMF Street Fest
Linkin Park is headlining this year’s Sunset Strip Music Festival Street Fest on Saturday August 3 and the band took a hands-on approach to inviting fans this week.
After taking to Twitter to give a heads up to fans, the band walked up the Sunset Strip and personally handed out flyers reading Hybrid Theory / with special guests Xero / August 3 / Sunset Strip Music Festival / SSMF.com. The handmade flyers were a nod to Linkin Park’s history, which is intricately tied to the Sunset Strip. In 1997, the band played its first gig — as Xero — at The Whisky A Go-Go. Linkin Park later played The Roxy in September 2000 and again in July 2004 — an epic collaboration with Jay-Z that was memorialized on the Collision Course CD/DVD and MTV’s Ultimate Mash Ups.
The band frequently played the Whisky in the late ’90s as Xero and after vocalist Chester Bennington joined the band it was renamed Hybrid Theory. Hybrid Theory is also the name of Linkin Park’s debut album… and the rest is history as Linkin Park has gone on to sell more than 50 million albums worldwide and win two Grammy Awards!
We’re thrilled to present Linkin Park as the headlining act of the SSMF Street Fest — the penultimate event of the August 1-3 festival — on Saturday August 3. Tickets are available now at sunsetstrip.eventbrite.com.
What will Linkin Park do next to promote its only remaining U.S. show of 2013, right here on the street where it all started? Keep an eye on the band and its members’ Twitter feeds: Linkin Park | Mike Shinoda | Chester Bennington | Dave Phoenix Farrell | Joe Hahn
