2013: STREET FESTIVAL FAQs
1. When does the street festival start?
- Gates to the Saturday, Aug. 3 SSMF street festival will officially open by 3:00 p.m.
- The street festival is 3-11 p.m. Venues within the closure will host free shows for ticketed attendees during the day and after the street fest closes, until 2 a.m. Entrance is first-come, first-served.
2. What is included in the Saturday, Aug. 3 street festival ticket price?
- The street festival will include two outdoor stages on The Sunset Strip between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard from 1-10 p.m. as well as performances in the music venues within the closure – The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go – throughout the day and into the night. More than 70 bands will perform!
- The street fest will also include artist autograph tent, food trucks, beer garden, and interactive experiences.
- VIP street fest ticket holders have access to all of the above plus priority entrance to the festival, priority entrance into The Roxy and Whisky, access to the rooftop VIP lounge and VIP lounge at On The Rox.
3. Where is the street festival entrance?
- You may enter the festival at Sunset Boulevard and San Vicente (gates located outside of the Whisky A Go-Go.) Gates open at 3 p.m. VIP ticket holders should enter the festival at Doheny and Sunset.
4. Is the street festival all ages?
- Yes! The street festival is all ages, but please remember that The Sunset Strip is an adult destination.
Please note that individual music venues may have their own age requirements after 9 p.m., though. We recommend you check with the individual venues to ensure access if you are under age 18 and want to attend a show after 9 p.m.
5. Where do I receive my street festival wristband?
- Street festival attendees will receive a wristband upon entrance that must be worn throughout the duration of the street festival. Wristbands are non-transferable and non-exchangeable and will not be replaced. There are no ins and outs.
6. Will there be food and beverages within the festival gates?
- Restaurants and bars within the closure will be open during the festival. You may also visit Sunset Strip restaurants outside the street closure before or after the street fest. Many are offering special discounts for festival attendees if you show your ticket!
- Food vendors will be located within the festival gates.
- A beer garden will be featured within the street closure. Separate wristbands will be issued to those of legal drinking age within the beer gardens. A valid ID must be presented.
- Music venues and restaurants within the closure also serve alcohol. Alcohol consumption is only allowed in designated areas.
7. What forms of payment are accepted?
- ATMs will be available within the festival grounds.
- Tickets will be available day of the festival, at the gate. You may pay with cash or credit card. Attendees are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance, though, for a lower rate. (Tickets are $70 in advance)
8. Are there ins/outs?
- To ensure safety within the festival and the neighborhood, there are NO ins and outs for the street festival. We encourage you to visit restaurants, bars and shops along The Sunset Strip before or after the event.
9. Where is the Saturday, Aug. 3 street festival and street closure?
- The street festival takes place on Sunset Boulevard between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard
Roads near the Sunset Boulevard street closure will be open to residents only. Sunset Boulevard will reopen to traffic by 7 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4.
10. I’m a resident and have questions about the street closure. Who should I contact?
Residents are encouraged to contact us at info@thesunsetstrip.com with any questions related to the Saturday, Aug. 3 Sunset Boulevard street closure. Sunset Boulevard will be closed to traffic beginning at 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 and will reopen to traffic by 7 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. All residents near the closure have received information regarding Neighborhood Outreach Meetings to discuss any concerns or questions. Residents with questions or concerns the day of the street festival may contact our Security Ambassadors at 310-210-7622.
11. I’m on a Will Call list. Where do I go to pick up my street festival tickets?
Will Call/guest list is located at Live! On Sunset parking lot (former Tower Records) located at 8801 Sunset Boulevard — two blocks east of the San Vicente festival entrance. Please note there are NO guest lists/will call information at the entrances. You must pick up any credentials or tickets at Live! On Sunset Will Call before proceeding to the entrance. A valid photo ID will be necessary to receive your credentials/ticket. No exceptions.
12. I purchased a Three-Day VIP Pass. Where do I pick up my credentials?
- The VIP Three-Day Pass Will Call is located at 9040 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069 on the main (first) floor.
- To pick up credentials, please bring a valid photo ID as well as a copy of your TicketWeb receipt.
WHAT CAN I BRING TO SSMF STREET FESTIVAL?
The Sunset Strip Music Festival invites you to enjoy and explore The Sunset Strip. Please note for your safety and the safety of others there are some items that are not permitted in festival grounds. Guests and their belongings are subject to search upon entry, and individual music venues may have their own set of guidelines.
The below are allowed/prohibited items for the street festival on Saturday, Aug. 3.
You may bring…
-Sunscreen
- NON-professional, small, hand held digital cameras. Professional cameras or those with detachable lenses are NOT allowed without proper press credentials.
We know you wouldn’t even think about it, but you may NOT bring…
- Weapons
- Illegal substances
- Oversized backpacks or bags
- Coolers
- Spiked jewelry
- Alcohol (alcohol will be sold at the festival)
- Food or beverages (both will be available at the festival)
- Water bottles, camelbacks, canteens or other containers.
- Pets (except service animals with proper paperwork)
- Fireworks/Explosives
- Folding chairs
- Video equipment – No video recording allowed
- Audio recording equipment
- Professional photography equipment
- Only vending by authorized vendors is allowed. No unauthorized solicitations.
TICKET FAQs
1. What are the ticketing options for SSMF 2013
SSMF has a few options this year.
• GA Street Festival ticket (Aug. 3): includes access to the festival as well as clubs within the closure (The Roxy Theatre and Whisky A Go-Go) from 3 p.m. – 1 a.m. A full day of music with 70+ bands.
• VIP Street Festival ticket (Aug. 3): includes the above, plus access to the private rooftop VIP lounge, with seating, shade, full no-host bar, and views of the festival, private bathrooms. Access to the VIP lounge at On The Rox. The VIP ticket also grants you priority access to venues and entrance to special VIP areas within select venues. VIP ticket holders also have a VIP entrance located at Doheny and Sunset. We encourage all VIP ticket holders to park West of Doheny.
• VIP Three-Day Ticket (Aug. 1-3): includes all of the above plus access to the invitation-only kick-off event on Thursday, Aug. 1 celebrating the music and legacy of this year’s honoree; Thursday, Friday and Saturday night shows at the venues (House of Blues, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go). Three-day passholders will receive priority entrance to the venues on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Please note that entrance to venues may be subject to capacity, so arrive early.
• Individual tickets to Thursday, Aug. 1 and Friday, Aug. 2 night shows at the venues (House of Blues, The Roxy, Whisky and Viper Room) are also available, and select Saturday, Aug. 3 night shows (House of Blues, Viper Room) will also be available for individual sale.
2. What are the ticket prices?
Prices for SSMF 2013 tickets are:
- $70 for General Admission street festival (Aug. 3)
- $135 for VIP Street Fest ticket (Aug. 3)
- $250 for Three-Day VIP Ticket (Aug. 1-3)
Please note that the prices you see are the prices you pay! No added fees or charges. Street fest tickets will be available at the gate day of the festival for $90, pending availability. So be sure to buy your ticket early and save time and money!
3. What does the Aug. 3 street fest ticket include?

4. Do the Three-Day VIP passes guarantee access to all the clubs (House of Blues, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go) Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights?
Passholders will be given priority access to the club shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. However, entrance will be first-come, first-served and subject to capacity. So, if there is a show you really want to see, make sure you arrive early!
5. Where do passholders pick up their VIP 3-Day badges and wristbands?

6. Where can I buy tickets the day of the festival?
All ticket sales and will call will be hosted outside of the festival gates, at Live! On Sunset (former Tower Records located at 8801 Sunset Boulevard). Please note that tickets purchased the day of the festival are $90.
7. I’m on a Will Call list. Where do I go to pick up my credentials?
