The SSMF tribute event took place at the House of Blues June 26, 2008, and honored Sunset Strip legends Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri and Elmer Valentine for their contributions to music history. Mark McGrath hosted the event, and Slash, Michelle Phillips, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong were on hand to speak about the honorees.
Larry King hosted an “Icon Roundtable” discussion at the London West Hollywood with honorees Lou Adler and Mario Maglieri as well as new Sunset Strip club owners Nic Adler, Mikeal Maglieri and Harry Morton.
Red Bull Music Academy hosted “Wasted Space” on June 28, 2008. The event featured performances by Camp Freddy, Pop Noir, Darling Stilettos and featured gaming and DJs. Indie 103.1 broadcast live from the event.
SSMF featured three nights of live performances from a diverse lineup of artists at the Cat Club, House of Blues, Key Club, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go.
SSMF included a Virgin America-sponsored cocktail party at The Standard on June 27, and a rooftop cocktail reception following the Icon Roundtable at the London West Hollywood on June 28.
